Baked Burger Buns

Using only a handful of ingredients these burger buns are quick and easy to make. The perfect accompaniment to your summer BBQ and great for making loaded burgers. Makes 8 buns.

  • 1lb 1oz strong bread flour
  • 0.25 oz Fast Action Dried Yeast
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp Caster Sugar
  • 10 fl oz Warm Water
  • 1.8 oz Butter
  • Flour for dusting

Step 1

Mix the flour, yeast, salt and caster sugar in a large Mason Cash Mixing Bowl.

Step 2

Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in 10 fl oz of water and 1.8 oz butter

Step 3

Mix together until it forms a dough.

Step 4

Start to knead the dough on the worktop. Don’t worry if the dough seems sticky, persist in kneading for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Adding too much extra flour can make the bread more dense.

Step 5

Put the dough in an oiled bowl, cover and leave to prove for an hour or overnight if making the next day.

Step 6

Once proved, gently knead the dough for 10 minutes and then divide and roll into 8 round balls and place on a baking tray, covered for another hour.

Step 7

Preheat the oven to 428℉. Place in the oven for 10-15 minutes. Once baked, transfer to a wire rack to cool, tap the bottom of the roll to check they sound hollow.

Step 8

Cover with a clean tea towel to absorb the moisture from any heat.
